Fun at Halloween

On Saturday, October 29th I had the pleasure of volunteering for “A Haunting We Will Go!” at Fanshawe Pioneer Village in London, Ontario. Up until a couple months ago, I was the event co-ordinator at Fanshawe Pioneer Village, as such I created “A Haunting We Will Go!” it is a Halloween event for young children, they get to trick or treat around the Pioneer Village, and participate in lots of fun Halloween activities. Since I did put the event together in 2010 and it was a great success I wanted to be a part of it again this year.

A Great Day…

It was a beautiful sunny, yet chilly day, perfect for a fall event!

Fun Costumes

Since it is a Halloween event, one cannot go unless in costume. Last year I was a fairy; this year I decided to go for something a little warmer so, I was a fisherman! One can fit many layers under a fisherman costume. We were excited to have almost 650 visitors to this event. It was a great day, full of trick or treating, fun crafts for the kids; including lolli-pop ghosts, pumpkin carving, a costume parade, and apple bobbing. I was in charge of leading the A Haunting We Will Go! costume parade, which is a great time for all involved. The kids love dancing around in their costumes, and apple bobbing was also a big success, even among parents, who remember bobbing as children.

Just For Fun!

There are a lot of events for adults at Halloween, geared time to scare people. But we have found out that there are many people in our community who have young children that just want something fun for their kids to participate in. A Haunting We Will Go! is a wonderful family event. Families spend the entire day sharing in activities and enjoying the beauty that is Fanshawe Pioneer Village in the autumn.
