Stratford ~ Stratford Serenity B & B

Stratford Serenity Bed and Breakfast

“Beautiful gardens at Stratford’s Serenity Bed & Breakfast.”

John & Corrie Segeren opened not only their home to us, but their hearts and souls. John shared with us ~ “The name of the game is living … life tosses out challenges, but there is nothing more rewarding then the connections, the connections with people from all around the world from all walks of life”. Sharing experiences, stories and the adventures we had and were about to have, added to this wonderful experience.

The Stratford Serenity Bed and Breakfast offers all the character, comfort and an atmosphere that is associated with an intimate bed and breakfast situated in a pastoral, garden setting just beyond the City limits! Their guesthouse has a large private kitchen, living room and dining room, full breakfast is served for guests in the main house. The Bedrooms include queens and singles plus a queen sleeping sofa. There is a large courtyard with an outdoor fireplace. Our room was massive, with a king size bed with canopy, private spa bathroom, private deck overlooking the gardens. This quiet country location close to Stratford shopping and theaters is ideal for a family or group looking for a peaceful retreat. We were immediately breath taken when we drove up to this B&B. The gardens are spectacular; the grass immaculate, owner John Segeren was out cutting the lawns as we approached. We do not often stay in B&B’s, I was somewhat intimidated when I first entered this massive, eloquent yet cozy home. It was not long before all my reservations were gone.

Over the next two days we experienced the most delightful stay and basically “fell in love” with both Corrie, John and their home. A bottle of wine was waiting and a fridge full of water and pop to enjoy. I had casually mentioned I like a cup of coffee in the morning when we checked in. I was amazed to have a large carafe of coffee on a silver tray on the porch overlooking the gardens placed on the table outside deck at 7 a.m. At 9 a.m. breakfast was an extraordinary feast, fresh baked deep dish quiche, bacon, meats, cheese, a fresh fruit salad, coffee, homemade breads, waffles with fresh berries and “real maple syrup”. I could go on, but you get the picture. The other guests were just as friendly, a very friendly couple from Chicago and a family from Kingston, (high school music teacher and two young growing music enthusiasts).
