Six Hamilton festivals were judged to be among the province’s best 100 as the city took the top honour for a municipality with more than 150,000 people at the 2024 Festivals and Events Ontario conference in Niagara Falls.

An independent panel of judges for the non-profit industry organization gave the city the Municipality of the Year Award for providing “an atmosphere beneficial to successful festivals and events.”

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce won the award for best social media and promotional campaigns for Hamilton Day, while Supercrawl won for best volunteer program.

The six Hamilton events to make Ontario’s Top 100 list were Winterfest, the Battle of Stoney Creek re-enactment, Because Beer Craft Beer Festival, Dundas Cactus Festival, Hamilton Day and Supercrawl.

Hamilton’s festivals and events bring residents and guests together to celebrate our city’s vibrant cultural scene and share our love for diverse food, music and art,” Mayor Andrea Horwath said in a city new release announcing the local awards.

A big thank you to the organizations, volunteers and city staff that make the magic happen in Hamilton year after year.
