Toronto Explored ~ Taste of Little Italy
by Jon Law
A couple of weeks ago, a much needed street festival took place along College St. After a long stretch, Taste of Little Italy returned in a big way.
I went on the Friday which was a very windy day, but that didn’t stop anyone from have a good time. There were lots of festival staff on hand to handle any challenges the wind caused and to scoops any stray trash along the six or so blocks of Taste.
There was more than just Italian food available this year. I saw BBQ, Spanish, and carnival food just to name a few, and it all smelled amazing. The organizers did a great job of making sure there was something to do for everyone, including carnival games for the kids. The two year break we all had to take didn’t affect people remembering how to have a good time. Lines for food still had gaps in them so you could pass by easily, kids who may not even remember coming to an event like Taste were taking it all in, and when the opening band was performing and did the usual thanking of the audience, a fair few people said “you’re welcome” back.
This sort of event is definitely what Toronto needed to kick off a great summer of food, festivals, and fun.
From College and Bathurst, happy exploring.
