Newmarket earns top honour for its special events

Newmarket has earned some bragging rights when it comes to success in delivering the community quality events.

The Town of Newmarket has been awarded Municipality of the Year by Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO).

It’s the third time in four years the town has received the prestigious honour, highlighting some of its most noteworthy events, including Tim Hortons Canada Day, Ice Lounge on Main, Night Market and Summerfest on Main.

In addition, the town has been recognized for its TD Music Series, a popular, longstanding community favourite event that draws thousands to the area.

The event provides outdoor, live musical entertainment featuring tribute bands covering a range of genres that runs throughout the summer months in the heart of the town, Riverwalk Commons.

“Every year, Newmarket continues to outdo itself and raise the bar for community experiences,” says Newmarket Mayor John Taylor. “Being recognized as Municipality of the Year and for Best Event Series demonstrates the creativity and dedication that Newmarket continues to exhibit when it comes to creating community connection through music, arts, culture and local events. Thank you to all the staff members who bring these highly regarded events to life every year.”

FEO is a non-profit organization that represents festivals and events throughout the province.
