Cake Picnic Toronto returns September 19
“City’s sweetest soiree brings hundreds of cake lovers together”
Toronto, ON – Organized by Toronto’s Le Dolci Culinary School and sponsored by CityPlace and Fort York Business Improvement Area (BIA), the third-annual Cake Picnic is back to delight baking-enthusiasts on Saturday, September 19 from 10am until 2pm at a secret downtown location.
Tickets to Toronto’s viral cake potluck go on sale tomorrow (Friday, August 14). Each guest must bring a homemade cake to share, then everyone picnics together – making sweet memories and swapping baking stories while savouring a variety of decadent slices.
Over 400 guests (and 400 cakes!) are expected to gather on picnic blankets in a picturesque outdoor destination while connecting over their shared passion for all things cake. The event will also feature live DJ sets, glam and henna stations, alcohol-free cocktails and a coffee bar, a cake-inspired photo booth and loads of delicious sprinkle-filled fun. The event is open to everyone, from professional to budding bakers.
“Cake Picnic brings people together, in person, for a joyful celebration of the love of baking, cake decorating and sharing with others – it’s such an uplifting and cheerful experience,” said Lisa Sanguedolce, founder of Le Dolci Culinary School. ‘We’ve had guests attend from all over, from Vancouver to Montreal and of course Toronto and the GTA. And there’s such an interesting variety of cakes – we’ve had a Samosa cake, a two-tier mango cake and a delicious peach coulis cake decorated with the romantic lambeth style piping– there’s so many flavours and decorating styles to discover!”
“What makes Cake Picnic extra special are the emotions and stories behind the cakes – we’ve had a cake recipe from someone’s sister who had passed, those who use multi-generational family recipes, bakers who incorporate flavours from their culture in unexpected ways. And everyone gets to eat a ton of cake!” added Sanguedolce.
