Roots & Rhythm summer series coming to Smithville

Formerly known as Music, Market & Park It, weekly events will include music, market, line dancing and more

The Township of West Lincoln is proud to present Roots & Rhythm, a six-week summer event series that celebrates local agriculture and promotes community pride.

Formerly known as Music, Market & Park It, the reinvigorated event series includes fun weekly themes, a community market, food, family activities, two musical performances and line dancing with Nidhi from Line Dancing Niagara. Admission is free with a donation to West Lincoln Community Care.

  • July 15: Kick Off the Gathering featuring live music from Kendra Gabrielle
  • July 22: Chicken & Coop Night with Chicken Farmers of Ontario and Egg Farmers of Ontario, featuring live music from Otis Wonder and The Hustle
  • July 29: Meet the Herd Night with Brookturn Farms and Dairy Educators of Ontario, featuring live music from 4 Ounce Pour
  • 5: Pastures & Plates with Sikkens Farms, featuring live music from Mage
  • 12: Big Machines Night with Premier Equipment – John Deere, featuring live music from Vinyl Flux
  • 19: Sunset social featuring live music from Fiddlestix

There is a new positive energy at the West Lincoln Community Centre,” says Cynthia Summers, director, community and protective services. “I am so excited to welcome the community to a new summer series where we can relax and focus on our agricultural roots by enjoying music, food and line dancing, all while learning more about our farming heritage. Please come out and celebrate with us at Roots & Rhythm.”

Roots & Rhythm will be held in the parking lot and bandshell outside the West Lincoln Community Centre, at 177 West St., in Smithville. In the event of extreme weather, the event will move indoors.

The market, agricultural activities and opening musical act will start at 5 p.m., line dancing will start at 6 p.m., and the headlining musician/band will start at 7 p.m. performing two 45-minute sets.
