Cambridge to host three Ontario Summer Games events
Archery, skeet shooting and soccer will be hosted in the city during the Games that run from Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, Aug. 2
The province’s top athletes between the ages of 12 and 18 across 23 sports will make their way to Waterloo region this summer for the 2026 Ontario Summer Games.
And the City of Cambridge is preparing to see some of the action.
Explore Waterloo Region, which helped secure the games, confirmed archery and soccer will be in Cambridge. The city has stated skeet shooting will also be hosted locally.
The event will draw more than 4,000 players, coaches and officials to the region.
A total of 28 venues are being used, including the Fountain Street Soccer Complex, the Cambridge Rod and Gun Club, RIM Park, the University of Waterloo, Wilfrid Laurier University, the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium and Conestoga College.
A full list of venues and schedules is being finalized.
Athletes will stay in dedicated villages at UW and Wilfrid Laurier University, along with local hotels.
“The City of Cambridge is proud to support the Ontario Summer Games, in collaboration with the (Explore Waterloo Region) Sport Hosting Office,” Teresa Chiavaroli, manager of communications for the city, said.
“Soccer and archery are planned to take place at the Fountain Street Soccer Complex. Staff in the Recreation and Culture division will serve as venue representatives. Skeet shooting will take place at the Cambridge Rod and Gun Club, but city staff will not have any involvement in that sport or venue.”
The organizing committee also unveiled the Games’ website earlier this week and named Desjardins Group as the presenting partner.
The Ontario Summer Games run from Thursday, July 30 to Sunday, Aug. 2.
