Have you visited 1924 yet?

Woodland Cultural Centre is proud to invite you to our current exhibition, 1924: Looking Back at the Last 100 Years of Hodinohso:ni Governance, Self-Determination, and Sovereignty.

1924 marks 100 years since the first election of a Band Council in Six Nations, highlighting the existence of two governance systems that represent Six Nations of the Grand River.

Explore the factors that shaped this transition, from land loss and the impacts of the First World War to the freezing of the Six Nations trust fund by Ottawa. We’ll also highlight the groundbreaking work of Deskaheh Levi General, the first Indigenous person to speak at the League of Nations, whose efforts were instrumental in advancing Indigenous rights and ultimately contributed to the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Our museum is open Monday – Friday 9-4 and on Saturdays from 10-5. For any guided tour experiences, you can reach out to our education department at tours@woodlandculturalcentre.ca.

We can’t wait to see you!
