A world premiere musical about discovering home. Rez Gas at the Capitol Theatre Port Hope!

~ OPENING THIS WEEKEND! ~

After moving away from his home reservation to pursue a music career, Destin stumbles back into town with unexpected car trouble and lands at the Wide Wigwam, the diner at the centre of the community. There he finds many of those who he left behind and who want to remind him of his history and his place in the community.

Described as Corner Gas meets Come From Away, Rez Gas is a beautiful expression of Indigenous joy with a hip-hop-infused, unforgettable score.

[Cale Crowe is] a rising star with… the spirit to honour his home and family.”

Rez Gas - World Premiere

See what people are getting excited about!

The story itself, while not autobiographical, is based on Crowe’s experiences. “Very, very loosely,” he says. The story and concept were the result of collaborating with Genevieve. “I’m currently on the opposite end of a transitional period in my own life.

~ Ludwig van

The writing of music for a stage production is a first for Crowe, but he has a lot of people in his corner…Anyone who chats with Crowe…will sense his excitement as opening night nears. Simply put, it’s hard not to root for him.”

~ Kawartha Now

I believe with my whole chest that the world of artistic expression needs all the Indigenous-made projects that can be made. Any culture on the planet is doomed if it isn’t given the space to grow, to evolve, to move forward. The Capitol Theatre has set a standard by facilitating this growth in even this small way.”
