August is Arts Month in Port Hope
August is Arts Month in , a community-wide celebration of creativity, expression, and connection through the arts. At the heart of the month is the Port Hope Arts Festival, an annual celebration of art and community in downtown Port Hope.
Join us downtown on Saturday, August 9 for Port Hope Arts Festival … a day full of artistic energy and fun, featuring the popular 10-Minute Plays series, a bustling Artisan Market, Art Around Town, hands-on activity stations, and more!
This year’s festival also features the return of SONG’s Sound Stage at the Memorial Park Bandshell, an open platform for local talent to shine. Performers of all kinds are invited to sign up for a slot between 10am-4pm. Whether you sing, dance, play an instrument, or recite poetry, we want to see what you’ve got!

🎭 10-Minute Play Series
On August 9, our Play Series will feature 12 unique plays, staged in 6 outdoors locations downtown.
🖼️ 🛍️Art Around Town
The work of 30 local artists will be displayed in various downtown windows from July 25th to August 10th.
Critical Mass Art
Creating inclusive and engaging contemporary art experiences in Port Hope since 2012.
Capitol Arts Centre
A cultural cornerstone presenting atmospheric experiences since 1930. Capitol Theatre!
Festival fun!
Community displays, hands-on activities, food vendors and other fun surprises.
🎶 S.O.N.G. Sound Stage
Sounds of the Next Generation (S.O.N.G.) are bringing and encouraging live music and performances to the Memorial Park Bandshell on August 9, starting at 10:00 a.m.
🐴 Wagon Rides
Visit our beautiful downtown and take a free horse-drawn ride on August 9.
🎨 Public Art Spaces
