Black Roots in Grey Exhibit 2025
January 31 ~ February 28, 2025
Black Roots in Grey
Black Roots in Grey, a front-of-house pop-up exhibit on display during Black History Month, explores a range of topics relating to local Black History.
Through informative text panels and archival photos, explore topics such as:
Slavery in Canada
The Underground Railroad
Discrimination
Early Black communities in Grey County
Notable local Black citizens
These panels are supported by much of our collection of Black History related artefacts. While our collection of such artefacts is small, each piece carries historical and cultural significance. Additional artefacts, documents, and images are on long term display in the Grey County Gallery.
We invite visitors to explore more about Black History through the Northern Terminus journal collection, available online or in the Museum Store. During the summer, we strongly recommend the Sheffield Park Black History Museum in nearby Clarksburg to continue your exploration of local Black History. Operating hours can be found on their website.
