Pukka Orchestra made their debut with the independent single “Rubber Girl” in 1981. Their inventive sound and incisive lyrics soon earned them a contract with Solid Gold Records.
The Pukka Orchestra’s self-titled 1984 debut album featured the Canadian Top 40 hit “Listen to the Radio,” originally written by Tom Robinson and Peter Gabriel as “Atmospherics.” The album also spawned the acclaimed singles “Might As Well Be On Mars” and “Cherry Beach Express”.
