Butterfly release planned in support of hospice foundation

Organizers encourage friends and supporters of the Maison McCulloch Hospice to take part in a special butterfly release event planned for August 17

Setting butterflies free is a unique way to contribute to local charity and honour loved ones who have passed on, said the Sudbury Hospice Foundation.

There will be a special butterfly release event taking place Aug. 17 at the Science North Vale Cavern.

The event is organized by The Lougheed Foundation, in partnership with the Sudbury Hospice Foundation, said a news release.

This heartfelt event offers the community a meaningful way to honour and remember loved ones who have passed, through the symbolic release of butterflies.

Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 17, with the program starting at 1 p.m., said a news release.

Friends and supporters can purchase butterflies in advance by contacting the Hospice at 705-674-9252. Quantities are limited and early purchase is encouraged, said the release.

All proceeds from the event will go in support of Maison McCulloch Hospice, helping to ensure compassionate end-of-life care and grief support services remain available to families across our community, said organizers.
