Capitol Centre takes the lead in popular Bay Block Party
‘We’re excited to get the ball rolling on the biggest party of the year’
The Capitol Centre announced today that it will take over organizing this year’s Bay Block Party that takes over Main St. every August.
This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, August 23.
“We are looking forward to taking on this event,” says Katina Connolly, Executive Director at the Capitol Centre.
For the past seven years the event has been hosted by the North Bay & Area REALTORS Association (NBARA),
“When they approached us about getting involved, we seized the opportunity and we look forward to continuing the tradition with the support of the NBARA team this year,” added Connolly.
NBARA’s president, Anita Kapitanchuck said in a news release, “We’ve had the honour of hosting this incredible community event since 2017, and while it’s bittersweet to step away, we are thrilled to pass the baton to the Capitol Centre. Their dedication and vision for our community will ensure that this event continues to grow and thrive for years to come.”
Co-chair of last year’s Bay Block Party, Ryan Humble said “I trust that the new team will bring fresh ideas while honouring the spirit of what made this event so special in the first place.”
Co-chair Kate Ricci also serves on the Capitol Centre Board of Directors. “This event has always been a special part of our community, bringing people together year after year. We are excited to see it move into capable hands with the Capitol Centre. This transition is a reflection of our community’s strength and commitment to progress.”
“Our team is already starting to connect with past sponsors and community partners, but if anyone is looking to get involved this year, don’t hesitate to reach out early,” says Connolly. “We’re excited to get the ball rolling on the biggest party of the year!”
