Dev’ Go Fund me

Lory MacDonald’s (The Artists’ House) daughter, Devaki, has just experienced an unimaginable loss. Her beloved vintage 1985 VW camper van—her summer home, her work vehicle, her sanctuary—burst into flames on the highway as she was returning from a weekend camping trip. Thankfully, they got out safely. But the van and everything inside it were completely destroyed.
This van was so much more than just a vehicle. For Devaki, it represented freedom, independence, and healing. As a single mother and full-time artist, she relied on it to travel across Canada to art shows and markets, where she sold her beautiful handmade jewelry. It allowed her to earn a living and create lasting memories with Briar—camping under the stars, meeting new people, and exploring Canada.
For years, that van has been her escape from the long winters, her mental health lifeline, and her creative hub. It carried her dreams—and my granddaughter. Now, all of that is gone.
A dear friend has set up a GoFundMe to help Devaki get back on the road, rebuild her livelihood, and begin to heal from this devastating experience. The goal is to raise $15,000 to help replace the van and the belongings that were lost—tools, gear, supplies, and the little things that made the van a home.
If you know Devaki, you know how deeply she gives to others—her creativity, her spirit, and her resilience are inspiring. Now, she needs a little help to find her way forward again.
Please donate if you can, and share this post widely. Every bit truly helps. Insurance does not cover enough to replace a VW camper van.
From the bottom of my heart—thank you.
