Grey Highlands rodeo gets $17K from province

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers announced more than $100,000 for four local events/festivals

The Grey Highlands RAM Rodeo event will receive significant grant funding from the provincial government this year.

The popular event hosted by the Municipality of Grey Highlands from May 24 – 25 will receive a grant of $17,885.

Proceeds from the event go to the Markdale Hospital Foundation.

The funding was one of four grants for local events announced by Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Paul Vickers.

The four events received a combined total of $103,812 from the province. Events receiving funding include:

Grey Highlands RAM Rodeo (Grey Highlands) – May 24 to May 25 – $17,885

Chi-Cheemaun Festival (Northern Bruce Peninsula) – June 20 to June 22 – $10,927.08

Electric Eclectics Festival (Meaford) – August 1 to August 3 – $20,000

Sauble Beach Party (South Bruce Peninsula) – August 29 to September 1 – $55,000

The funding is through the province’s 2025 Experience Ontario program. The local funding is part of a nearly $20-million investment in festivals and events across Ontario to help organizers expand programming and draw visitors to stay longer in local accommodations, eat in restaurants, shop at local retailers and support main street businesses.

Festivals are an exciting summer experience for so many Ontarians,” said Vickers in a news release. “I welcome this investment in four unique festivals across our constituency, and look forward to seeing our community come together this summer.”

Stan Cho, Ontario’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, encouraged Ontario residents to attend events in their local communities.

Festivals and events showcase the best of Ontario; its people and its culture all while inviting people near and far to experience and enjoy our province. They help create local jobs, provide economic benefits and bring communities together,” said Cho in the news release. “Now more than ever, it is important that we come together to take part in made-in-Ontario experiences that celebrate our collective identity and support local communities.”
