Home Game: Toronto Loves Basketball
In partnership with the Museum of Toronto, Home Game: Toronto Loves Basketball is a celebration of the city’s passion for basketball and the remarkable stories of legendary players who changed the game.
Even before the Toronto Raptors and the rallying cry, “We the North” became a slogan, for over a century basketball in Toronto was deeply rooted in the evolving social and cultural conditions of our city and its people. From the Canadian invention of basketball to the early women’s game in 1895, to the first professional basketball game played by the short-lived Toronto Huskies in 1946, and the recent creation of the Toronto Tempo WNBA team, these and many other milestones chart the sport’s development in the city.
Home Game: Toronto Loves Basketball is both an exhibition and a series of profiles on fellow Torontonians that reflects our love story with the sport. More than just a game, you’ll learn how the relationship between basketball and Toronto is unlike any other in the world. Join us for the exhibition and experience basketball history come to life through augmented reality where you can custom design your own basketball jersey.
