Featuring the theme “Connecting Japan and the World, Past and Future,” Japan Festival Canada 2025 will be held the weekend of Aug. 16-17 at Celebration Square in the city’s downtown core.
“The 2025 edition will mark a special milestone — our 10th anniversary, symbolizing a decade of cultural exchange and friendship,” organizers wrote in a letter to City of Mississauga officials this week in which they touched base and confirmed the booking as they do each year in advance of the annual festival.
“In 2025, the festival will continue its mission of connecting Japan and the world by exploring new possibilities for collaboration and exchange. This year’s theme underscores our commitment to celebrating the historical friendship between Japan and Canada while envisioning a shared future. The festival also aligns its efforts with the upcoming 100th anniversary of Japan-Canada diplomatic relations in 2028-2029, setting the stage for cultural and economic partnerships that resonate globally.”
Once again, the annual festival will bring renowned Japanese cultural figures, artists and performers to Mississauga for the summertime event. Their presence will offer visitors to the festival “a rare opportunity to experience the heart of Japanese culture through live demonstrations, performances and discussions,” officials with Japan Expo Canada Inc., the festival organizer, said.
Each year, the Japanese festival showcases that country’s rich traditions, cutting-edge technology and culinary excellence, they added.
