Local festivals and events receive $515,000 in funding
Funds awarded through 2025 Experience Ontario tourism initiative
Several local events are set to receive a financial boost courtesy of provincial efforts to increase tourism.
Announced Thursday, local events will collectively share $515,250 – part of nearly $20 million in funds granted for more than 350 events through the province’s 2025 Experience Ontario tourism initiative.
“Ontario’s festivals and events showcase the best of our province, while instilling pride, creating jobs and boosting local economies,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming, in a news release. “Now more than ever, it is important that we come together to take part in made-in-Ontario experiences that celebrate our collective identity and support our local communities.”
Local recipients include Riverfest Elora ($125,000), Hillside Festival ($125,000) Major League Show Jumping in Erin ($125,000), Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games ($55,000), The Elora Festival ($55,000) and the Eden Mills Writers’ Festival ($30,250).
“Our government is proud to support a few of the incredible events that take place throughout Wellington-Halton Hills”, said Joseph Racinsky, MPP for Wellington-Halton Hills, in the release. “Thank you to all the volunteers that make these events possible.”
