History of the Maxville Fair

The Maxville Fair was established in 1889 by the Kenyon Agriculture Society, marking its beginning as a local gathering for farmers and the community.

Glengarry Highland Games:

In 1948, a small group of local businessmen organized the first Glengarry Highland Games, aiming to preserve Scottish traditions. This event, which attracted 10,000 people in its first year, has grown into a major annual event.

Growth and Evolution:

The Glengarry Highland Games have evolved into a premier stop for Scottish competitors in North America, hosting the largest massed pipe bands in the region.

North American Pipe Band Championships:

The Games are now home to the North American Pipe Band Championships, attracting pipe bands from across the continent.
