New Kawartha Sun Run brings runners to Fenelon Falls in June
The Kawartha Sun Run will be on Sunday June 22nd.
Endurance Event Productions, the organizers of three popular running events in Ontario, are bringing a new event to Fenelon Falls on Sunday, June 22nd. The Kawartha Sun Run Half-Marathon, 10k and 5k race is expected to bring about 650 runners to Garnet Graham Beach Park to test their legs on the Victoria Rail Trail. Runners will navigate the scenic course which runs northbound to just past Somerville Concession Road #3 and back to the park where they will be greeted at the finish line with a medal and awards ceremony. The starting gun goes at 8:00 am and the final finishers are expected to complete the course by 11:30 am.
Participants are raising funds for the Kawartha Lakes Food Source and Lymphoma Canada and are encouraged to bring donations of used footwear for a Soles4Souls.
Local businesses and volunteers, as well as supporters from the run community across Ontario will be participating in the event to make it safe and fun for runners of all abilities. K-Country 93.7 radio personality Dan Pollard will be on site with a live broadcast and the K-Country team will be on the course with their truck to play music to keep the runners motivated. Aid stations on the course will provide hydration and support for runners, and medical personnel will be on mobile units to provide additional safety measures.
The organizers thank the local community for their support and warm welcome for runners and volunteers, many of whom are travelling from across Ontario to participate. Spectators are welcome to join the fun and cheer runners on and are encouraged to share the Victoria Rail Trail and take care at cross streets to help ensure a safe event.
