North Bay’s Fringe Festival gets $15,000 in provincial funding

North Bay’s ‘ON THE EDGE’ Fringe Festival gets funding from the provincial government. The Fringe Festival takes place in early August.

Vic Fedeli, MPP for Nipissing announced that the Ontario government is investing $15,000 to the ‘ON THE EDGE’ Fringe Festival in North Bay through the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) Theatre Projects Program, supporting good jobs, empowering local artists and helping community arts and culture organizations thrive.

Our government understands the important role that the arts play in fostering dynamic and thriving communities across Ontario,” said MPP Vic Fedeli “This support will help Nipissing’s artists and arts organizations continue to make a positive impact on our economy, create good jobs and draw more visitors to our community.”

On the Edge Fringe is very grateful for the ongoing support from the Ontario Arts Council. With our provincial leaders’ support we are able to continue our efforts to enhance local arts and build a strong foundation for the arts in North Bay.” says Kelsey Ruhl, Festival Director.

The Theatre Projects program grant is designed to maximize the positive impact of Ontario’s cultural sector in local communities throughout the province. The program supports professional theatrical exploration, creation, development, production and presentation, regardless of theatrical tradition, as well as initiatives that benefit the Ontario professional theatre community. In Nipissing, this funding will enable the ‘ON THE EDGE’ Fringe Festival to coordinate, promote, and present their twelfth Festival in North Bay.

The program is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by supporting workers, businesses, communities and jobs in the face of ongoing economic uncertainty, while creating a solid foundation for a strong, resilient and competitive future.
