Oakville looking for artists, creators and community groups to hold Culture Days events
Applications must be submitted by May 1 for events to be included in Town of Oakville promotional material.
The Town of Oakville is looking for artists, creators and community groups interested in hosting free programs and activities during this year’s Culture Days.
The national celebration of arts and culture that invites the public to experience hands-on activities in their communities will take place in Oakville from Sept. 19 to Oct. 12.
Town staff said those interested in hosting a program or activity must ensure these events:
- offer a community-based arts or cultural activity that is engaging, participatory and inclusive, and designed for large-group participation
- encourage self-expression, and foster unity and collaboration
- feature no costs to participants or the Town of Oakville
Indoor spaces for these activities are available at Glen Abbey Community Centre, Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, and the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.
Outdoor spaces are also available at Heritage Square and on Kerr Street.
Town staff said those interested in hosting an event only need to hold one to be considered. They also noted Oakville residents would be given priority.
An application must be submitted to participate in the event and to request town space (indoor or outdoor). It is non-paying, said town staff.
To be included in town promotional materials, applications must be submitted by Thursday, May 1.
Town staff said requests received after this deadline will be supported on a first-come, first-served basis, as space allows.
