History of the Parkhill Fair

The Parkhill Fair, located in Parkhill, Ontario, is a longstanding annual event organized by the dedicated volunteers of the Parkhill Agricultural Society. As of 2025, the fair will celebrate its 165th edition, underscoring its deep-rooted presence in the community.

Traditionally held on the second weekend of August, the Parkhill Fair offers a diverse array of activities and events designed to appeal to all ages. The festivities commence on Friday evening with the Fair Show and Wrestling, followed by a weekend filled with attractions such as laser tag, children’s competitions, petting zoos, midway rides, and the ever-popular demolition derby on Sunday afternoon.

The fairgrounds, historically significant as the site where horse races once took place and grandstands stood tall, continue to serve as the venue for the fair. Located between the North Middlesex Community Centre and the North Middlesex Arena at 225 McLeod Street, the grounds are imbued with memories of past fairs, maintaining a strong connection to the community’s heritage.

Over the years, the Parkhill Fair has evolved, introducing new events and attractions to keep pace with changing times while preserving its core agricultural focus. This blend of tradition and innovation has cemented the fair’s status as a beloved community event, drawing attendees from Parkhill and the surrounding regions to celebrate local culture and community spirit.
