Select ski resorts still open in Ontario and pond skim events are coming soon
Ontario ski resorts prepare for the end of the season, with pond skim dates announced.
Warming temperatures are starting to signal the end of ski season.
A few hills have already bid farewell to skiers and boarders, but a handful of resorts are stretching out the season.
Here are many of the Ontario ski resorts, and details about their final days and puddle jumps as of March 20.
Simcoe County
Horseshoe Valley Resort has 100 centimetres of base. The resort is now closed for night skiing, but for all skill levels, 21 runs are open, and three terrain parks. The last day of the season is Sunday, March 23. Passes are on sale now for next season, with early bird prices until April 30.
Mount St. Louis Moonstone has a base of 65 to 95 centimetres of snow. All of its 35 slopes are open, and four parks open. Last day for skiing and boarding is Sunday, March 30. Its early bird podium passes are on sale now for the 2025/26 season.
Snow Valley Resort has 80 centimetres of snow for a base. All of its 21 runs are open during the daytime, but closed at night. Snow Valley’s epic Pond Skim, the final event of the year, takes place on Sunday, March 30. Entry is free, so grab your skis or board, throw on your wackiest costume, and take on our 80-foot pond. “Whether you’re skimming, spectating, or cheering from the sidelines, it’s all about fun, laughter, and one last ride before the snow melts,” the resort said on Facebook.
Devil’s Glen Country Club has spring ski conditions at the moment. It has 16 of 24 hills and one terrain park open for skiers and snowboarders. The Puddle Madness event is happening Saturday, March 29. Last day of skiing for the season is Sunday, March 30.
Grey County
Blue Mountain Resort has an average base of 95 centimetres of snow. For today, 30 of its 43 trails are open. “Select Village trails are now open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. until April 6 so you can soak up spring. As the temperature warms up, we will continue to reduce terrain so be sure to check out our spring hours calendar for the most up to date details,” the resort said on its website. Don’t miss the Retro Pond Skim on Saturday, March 29 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the base of Smart Alec. The 2025/26 season passes are on sale now.
Durham Region
Lakeridge Ski Resort is closed today, but is opening this weekend for skiiers and snowboarders. “We will be open for skiing and snowboarding this Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Half-price coupons are valid all day, including weekday coupons so don’t let those coupons go to waste,” the resort said on Facebook.
Dagmar Ski Resort is closed for the season, but its March Madness ski passes for next year are on sale now.
Brimacombe Ski Resort is closed for the season, but still has plans for its Puddle Jump on Sunday, March 30 at 11 a.m. “Watch as daredevils of all ages try to ski and snowboard over our 80-foot-long “puddle”. Want to try it yourself? Register in advance now.”
Ottawa Valley
Mount Pakenham is closed today, but reopening for its last weekend, Friday, March 21 to Sunday March 23 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Calabogie Peaks Resort has 14 trails open for today, and will be open for spring skiing until Sunday, March 30.
Kawartha Lakes area
Battawa Ski Hill is excited to celebrate the final days of the season. “No matter what Mother Nature throws at us, on Sunday March 23, the party is on! We’ll have to see what the SNIRT (snow + dirt) situation is after the warm weather and heavy rain (today) before we can determine if there will be access to the hill,” the resort said on its website. If skiing is a go, the hill will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lift tickets going for $15. This year, the resort also wants to start a new tradition. “Last Run of the Year – all together! Meet at the top at 4 p.m. We’re starting a new tradition – don’t miss it.” And a ball drop competition from the chair lift will have a family winning a free season’s pass for next year. Early bird passes for the 2025/26 season are up for grabs for walk-ins only.
Sir Sam’s Ski is marking the last few weekends of the season. Join in for the Spring Splash Saturday and Sunday with the hills open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. If the weather co-operates, there could be a bonus weekend March 29/30.The early bird seasons passes on sale for next winter until March 21.
Halton
Glen Eden Ski Club is open this weekend, Saturday, March 22 and Sunday, March 23, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Join us for what might just be Ontario’s earliest Easter Egg Hunt. Hidden around Glen Eden, you’ll find seven special egg-themed signs with a letter. Collect them all and unscramble the letters to reveal the word. Bring your answer to Trailhead and collect your sweet prize,” the resort said on Facebook.
Hockley Valley Resort has closed for the season.
York Region
Uplands Ski Centre is closed for the season.
The Recreational Outdoor Campus is now closed for the season.
Muskoka
Hidden Valley Highlands is closed through the week, but open March 22 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join in the Annual Puddle Jump on March 22 at 1 p.m. “This event is free for all participants aged 12 and up. Don’t miss out on the fun — be sure to register at Customer Service before 11:30 a.m. It’s first come, first served, so arrive early to secure your spot.”
North Bay
Antoine Mountain has 60 centimetres of groomed surface for a base, and has spring skiing conditions. The last tracks take place this weekend March 21 to 23, with live music from 3 to 5 p.m.
Laurentian Ski Hill is closed today, but will reopen Friday, March 21 at 4:30 p.m. There are 10 runs open, including the terrain park. Seasons passes are on sale now for next winter.
Brampton
Mount Chinguacousy is closed for the season.
Kitchener
Chicopee Ski and Summer Resort is closed for the season.
London
Boler Mountain is open for spring skiing – Thursday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
