History of the Sutton Fair and Horse Show
The Sutton Fair & Horse Show, held annually in Sutton, Ontario, has been a cornerstone of the community for over 167 years, celebrating the region’s rich agricultural heritage. Organized by the Sutton Agricultural Society, a dedicated group of volunteers, the fair showcases local agriculture, livestock, arts, and crafts, fostering community spirit and education.
Each year, the fair offers a variety of events and exhibits, including horse and livestock competitions, homecraft displays, truck and tractor pulls, dog shows, horse pulls, demolition derbies, and a midway. These attractions provide entertainment and educational opportunities for attendees of all ages, highlighting the talents and hard work of community members.
In 2024, the 167th Sutton Fair & Horse Show saw a notable increase in attendance, with Saturday drawing record crowds. Despite inclement weather on Friday, overall attendance rose by more than 4% compared to the previous year, reflecting the fair’s enduring popularity and significance within the community.
The Sutton Fair continues to adapt and grow, ensuring that it remains a vibrant and integral part of the community, celebrating local traditions and fostering a sense of unity among residents and visitors alike.
