It’s a wrap on the summer 2024 season!
While the curtain came down on all the productions before Labour Day, post-season work has continued behind the scenes for several weeks. Even now there are still a few costumes to hang, a few set pieces to refresh, and the tent waits for one more audience before it’s packed away for the winter, and now it’s a wrap for the summer 2024 season!
Now that we’ve caught our breath, we’d like to take a moment to thank everyone – artists, staff, volunteers, partners/sponsors and our wonderful audiences for their support in making 2024 a standout season – great plays, great houses and many great memories!
Celebrating our 10th Anniversary – our second decade is on the horizon
Theatre on the Ridge celebrates 10 years of captivating theatre in 2023 and we’re very proud of our accomplishments in this first decade, including our ability to stay LIVE since 2020. We continued to improvise, adapt and overcome throughout the pandemic and now, in 2023, have set our sights on creating our new normal for enriching lives through live theatre, on and offstage, and now it’s a wrap for the summer 2024 season.
Surviving the roller coaster of the pandemic was not enough. We are moving forward with an eye on a return to live theatre strengthened by what we have learned and what we have incorporated into our practices over the past three years. As much as it’s been a time of great uncertainty, it has also been a time of learning, growing; a time to take stock and to continue with a new sense of purpose.
We have a strong belief in creating a brave, safe and positive work environment within the scope of the changing landscape of live theatre today, and the changing landscape of our world.
This year, we will be undertaking a new strategic plan, governance development and the implementation of a revenue plan to help see us well into our second decade. We will also continue to strengthen our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion. And we will also continue to embrace the uncertainty of our times, be adaptive and remain flexible as we define the new normal for ourselves and strive to make a positive impact within our community.
Our Big Picture:
Increasing Community Access to Live Theatre
Theatre on the Ridge is committed to increasing community access to theatre by bringing theatre to alternative venues, taking theatre to the audience (ie. schools, community groups and events) and other such activities to support the creation of meaningful theatre experiences for the whole community.
We will work with community partners and sponsors to leverage revenues raised through our own programs, donations and partner support to make theatre tickets available to individuals, groups and organizations otherwise unable to benefit from attending live performing arts.
