As of 2025, the fair celebrated its 144th edition, marking a long-standing tradition of agricultural showcases, entertainment, and community gatherings.
Agricultural fairs in Ontario have deep roots, with the first agricultural society established in 1792. These fairs have historically served as platforms for farmers to exhibit livestock, crops, and homemade goods, while also providing educational opportunities and entertainment for attendees. The Tweed Hungerford Agricultural Fair continues this legacy by offering events such as 4-H Beef and Dairy shows, horse pulls, baking and craft contests, as well as popular attractions like demolition derbies and truck and tractor pulls.
The fairgrounds, located at 617 Louisa Street in Tweed, have been the traditional venue for the fair’s diverse activities. Over the years, the fair has adapted and evolved, incorporating new events and attractions to reflect changing community interests while maintaining its agricultural focus. The Tweed Agricultural Society actively welcomes new members and volunteers, emphasizing community involvement and the continuation of this cherished local tradition.
