History of the Warkworth Fall Fair

The Warkworth Fall Fair, held annually in Warkworth, Ontario, has been a cherished tradition since its inception in 1850. Organized by the Percy Agricultural Society, the fair has consistently celebrated and enriched rural life through its diverse events and exhibitions.

Throughout its history, the Warkworth Fall Fair has showcased a variety of attractions, including 4-H and beef shows, horse shows and pulls, homecraft exhibits, pie contests and auctions, truck and tractor pulls, and an elimination car draw. These events highlight the community’s agricultural heritage and foster a strong sense of local pride.

Over the years, the fair has evolved to incorporate modern entertainment while preserving its traditional roots. Attendees can enjoy a midway, live music, and various family-friendly activities, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The fairgrounds, located at 24 East Street, serve as the central hub for these festivities.

The Elimination Car Draw, initiated in 1955, has become one of the fair’s most significant fundraisers. With only 1,200 tickets sold annually, it has grown in popularity, often selling out before the fair begins. The funds raised support the continuation and enhancement of the fair’s offerings.

The Warkworth Fall Fair continues to thrive, blending historical traditions with contemporary attractions, and remains a testament to the enduring spirit and dedication of the Warkworth community.
